Teacher Support is Part of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) is a schoolwide framework that helps every student get the right support at the right time—whether in academics, behavior, speech-language, or motor skills. The goal is to catch needs early, provide targeted help, and track progress so no student slips through the cracks.
MTSS has three tiers:
Tier 1 is high-quality teaching and support for all students.
Tier 2 includes small-group interventions for students who need additional support. This is the tier where the Teacher Support Team and Interventions are active.
Tier 3 provides intensive, individualized support—often through an IEP—for students with significant or ongoing needs.
Students move between tiers based on how they respond, so support is always flexible and tailored.
